MACO Communications Toolkit

Want to help students and faculty get involved with coastal and ocean-based learning? This toolkit makes it easy. The MACO Communications toolkit seeks to help Oregon State University departments and campuses (Corvallis, Cascades, and Ecampus) talk about MACO programs, share opportunities, and connect students with applied experiences at the coast. Explore the quick guides, templates, and visuals, and let us know how we can help!

Toolkit on Box

The main objective with this kit is to get both lower division and upper division students “in the know” about marine and coastal opportunities and how they can “put the ocean in their degree”. The Toolkit linked below includes resources to assist these audiences in communicating about opportunities to get down to the coast, including field courses. These opportunities include but are not limited to:

  • Information for touring and learning about the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
  • Academic and Scientific Diving Information.
  • Information about MACO.
  • Downloadable photos with captions for branding and posting.

How can I use the Toolkit?

One of the leading purposes of the MACO Communications Toolkit is to better communicate experiential learning opportunities across all departments at every campus of OSU. The MACO Communications Toolkit can serve as an excellent resource for advisors with students interested in learning at the coast.

Best Advising Resources:

  • "About Us" document.
  • OSU Diving opportunities and resources.

  • Coast to Valley Express opportunity.

Professors, do you have students who might be interested in coastal experiential learning? The downloadable photos in the MACO Communications Toolkit can be a great help for branding student opportunities as a slide in your lectures. Along with this, the "About Us" document can help students know where to find our office and visit us.

Clubs and organizations are a huge part of student life here at Oregon State. If your club or organization is looking to make their next trip down to the coast, the "Guide to Hatfield" section of the kit can help make your next trip to the coast educational and fun.

Innovation Lab

The Innovation lab (iLab) is a hub for creativity and exploration, a place where ideas can be designed and built. The iLab space and equipment has all that you need to take your project from the idea phase, to fabricating and testing a prototype into production.
