ART 360/460: Creative Field Work
Course Overview
Creative Field Work is a week-long adventure art course that transforms the Central Oregon Coast into a dynamic outdoor studio. Open to all creative disciplines and other interested students, this course offers a chance to experience the region’s people, history, and ecology through a creative lens that blends art, science, history, and storytelling.
Camp for five days and four nights at Cape Perpetua, surrounded by rugged coastlines and ancient forests. Guided by U.S. Forest Service rangers and other experts, you’ll explore rocky intertidal zones and learn about the history of human interaction with the landscape.
Visiting artists, scholars, and scientists will share insights to enrich your perspective. By the end of the trip, you’ll build a portfolio of site-based observations—including sketches, photography, video, sound recordings, and writing—that captures your unique perspective on the coast's landscapes and stories.
