Coastal Travel Assistance

MACO supports the cost of transportation to and from the Hatfield Marine Science Center on the Coast to Valley Express. The Coast to Valley Express shuttle travels from the central valley to Newport and back, 4 trips daily, with multiple pick-up locations including OSU's McNary Hall. Tickets are awarded on a first-come first-serve basis. Please apply early as tickets are in high demand.

There are currently no tickets left for Fall 2025. Ticket applications for the Winter 2026 term open on December 29th, 2025.

Eligibility

Tickets are given to students to support marine-related academic & professional development work, such as classes, field trips, tours, lectures, meetings, events, etc. at Hatfield Marine Science Center. 

The following people are all eligible to apply:

  • OSU undergraduate students
  • OSU graduate students
  • Non-OSU students taking courses at Hatfield

Tickets are given out in batches of 10 one-way tickets. You may apply for a maximum of 2 batches (20 one-way tickets) per term, as supplies last. Due to high demand, you are NOT guaranteed to receive 2 batches every term. Ticket applications for a specific term open (1) week prior to the start of that term. Printed tickets given out by MACO do not expire.

How to Apply

Email [email protected] using your Oregon State University email address and submit:

  • Your full name

  • Major or position title

  • Your status at OSU (undergraduate or graduate student)

  • Your relevant Unit, Program, or Lab name

  • Purpose of the visit(s)

  • Date(s) of tickets needed

  • Number of one-way tickets requested (up to 10 one-way tickets at a time)

Requests must be received at least 5 business days before travel.
